Kia ora, I'm Eva Whakaata.
The word Whakaata (pronounced fah-kaah-tah) means reflection or mirror, and for me, it holds both personal and profound meaning. It’s a name passed down through my whānau, gifted to me as my middle name, and once carried by my grandmother as her first.
To reflect is to look beyond.
Beyond what’s familiar. Beyond what’s comfortable.
Reflection invites us to pause, to truly see ourselves—the parts we celebrate and the parts we often hide.
This is what Whakaata Counselling is about. Providing a therapeutic service - quiet, safe, and steady - to reflect, to heal, to restore and transform.
